Inmarsat Fleet's high-quality Mobile ISDN and cost-effective IP-based Mobile Packet Data Services offer unparallel connectivity for access to e-mail and the Internet, weather updates, video conferencing and vessel monitoring systems.

Equipment

Inmarsat recognizes that different vessels have varying requirements, and no single solution fits all. Our flagship Fleet service offers customers a choice of over three main terminal and antenna sizes (F77, F55, and F33), with a number of terminals available from different manufacturers.

Fleet 33

Fleet F33 is a maritime communications service that offers high quality voice, fax and data at speeds of 9.6 kbps, along with the option of Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS), enabling users to remain on-line for extended periods of while being charged only for the data transmitted and received. Service Features

Fleet F33 supports a variety of communication channels to meet the diverse application requirements of low tonnage coastal fishing vessels, patrol organizations, smaller yachts, and private leisure craft. Fleet F33 offers users the choice of selecting either circuit-switched data services or Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS), thereby allowing users to create a communications solution to match specific operational requirements.

Circuit-Switched Data Services

  • 9.6 kbps data suitable for fax and batched transmissions such as file transfers via e-mail
  • 9.6 kbps fax Suitable for sending cost-effective fax via the Group 3 fax interface within the F33 terminal.

Mobile Packet Data Service

Mobile Packet Data Service uses Internet Protocol (IP) technology and time-shared channels to allocate network resources, enabling cost-efficient Web access, e-mail and "Always On" remote access.

  • Up to 64 kbps for downloading
  • Up to 28 kbps for uploading

Voice Services

Fleet F33 offers a dedicated Single Channel per Carrier (SCPC) service that provides cost-effective voice communications.

Fleet 55

Fleet F55 is a maritime communications service that offers high quality data, voice, and fax at speeds up to 64 kbps. Fleet F55 Mobile ISDN service provides reliable and fast connections, for quick and cost-effective delivery of large amounts of data. Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) enables users to remain on-line for extended periods of time, while being charged only for the data transmitted and received.
